Freesound
What is Freesound?
- Freesound: A collaborative database of audio samples and sound effects, all released under Creative Commons licenses.
- Features:
- Browse popular and recent sounds.
- Search sounds by keyword.
- Explore sounds by tags (ambient, nature, synth, drum, etc.).
- Browse sound packs (collections of related sounds).
- View user profiles and their uploaded sounds.
- Listen to similar sounds based on acoustic analysis.
- Stream audio previews directly in AN Player.

Install
- Open AN Player and go to the Plugins Screen.
- Find Freesound in the official plugins list.
- Install the plugin and open its configuration page.
Configure Plugin
Freesound requires a free API key.
- Open the plugin configuration page from AN Player.
- Go to Freesound API Registration in your browser.
- Sign in with your Freesound account (create a free account at freesound.org if you don't have one).
- Fill in the form — give your app any name (e.g. "AN Player") and a short description.
- After submitting, you will receive an API Key on the confirmation page.
- Copy the API key.
- Go back to AN Player, paste the key into the API Key field.
- Tap Save.
If Nothing Loads
If the home screen stays empty after saving, the most common issues are:
- The API key is invalid — double-check that you copied the full key without extra spaces.
- Your Freesound account email is not verified — log in to Freesound and verify your email address.
- The API key was revoked — go back to Freesound API credentials and create a new one.
